  • Here at USTC, we’ve found that a vast array of training keeps the mind stimulated and allows for further advancement of current skillsets as other disciplines are adapted. Our home school will always be in our passion for Taekwondo. But that passion led our Dojang to incorporate many other disciplines as well.

    • Taekwondo

    • Hapkido

    • Judo

    • Tang Soo Do/Moo Duk Kwan

    • Weapons

After our students progress through the ranks in the Black Belt Club, they unlock access to additional forms of training for free. Moo Duk Kwan is just one of these offerings for our students that excel!

Frequently Asked Questions

How can martial arts help me?

Keeping your body in good health is a natural key to longevity and life. But, along with keeping your body in good health, we must keep our minds in good health. Martial arts helps an individual grow not only physically, but mentally. Martial arts helps individuals learn discipline, perseverance, dedication, strength, patience, and so much more. While it helps with all of the mental and physical aspects, martial arts inherently teaches us how to defend ourselves and our loved ones, should the need ever arise. Combining all these aspects is what makes martial arts an incredibly valuable asset to an individual in life.

Can I train at USTC West Chester if I have no previous martial arts experience?

Absolutely! Everyone starts at the same rank and same place in our organization and we believe everyone, even our instructors, is constantly learning and growing. We encourage beginners or anyone even remotely interested to come and attend a class, meet our team, and see what a great benefit Taekwondo and martial arts as a whole can be. We harbor no judgement regardless of skill level and believe everyone is here to learn.

Is black belt the end?

Certainly not. There’s no set amount of time it takes to get to the rank of 1st degree black belt, but we at USTC West Chester see black belt just as the end of the beginning. There is so much more to learn and the process is focused on always learning and growing more. Once a student becomes a black belt, they will gain more experience as an instructor and understand not only how to be taught, but to teach.

Is USTC West Chester family friendly?

Without a doubt! U.S. Taekwondo Center West Chester is a family-owned business and actively encourages families to train and learn together. We have many families that have trained and grown through the ranks together, some even becoming instructors at the school today. If our encouragement isn’t enough, we also offer discounts to encourage families to join as one.

What is Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo?

Moo Duk Kwan is one of the five Kwans, or houses, in the lineage of Taekwondo. Moo Duk Kwan translates to “School of Martial Virtue”. Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo was originally founded and developed by Grandmaster Hwang Kee in 1945, spawning from his many years of training in Korean martial arts. Hwang Kee began teaching his modified art, Tang Soo Do, which he later modified into Soo Bahk Do. Over the next 20 years Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo as we know it today came to fruition in 1965. Our Grandmaster, Kyongwon Ahn, is a 9th Dan Grandmaster, once a student of Grandmaster Hwang Kee, helped to modernize and spread the virtues and benefits of Taekwondo across the world.
